Prisma Events was created in 2009 from a place of love, passion, and a little bit of crazy (but like, the fun kind!). Our team is small so that we can provide focused, personal attention to the limited number of clients we work with each year.
Colorado's only dedicated LGBTQ+ wedding planner.
Aimee - CEO, Principal Wedding Planner, CPCE AKA Rainbow Maker & Party Diva Hundreds of weddings, thousands of guests, and an innumerable amount of cake, Aimee is 25 years into the hospitality and events industry. Since launching Prisma Events in 2009, she's been planning for all kinds of couples and now exclusively specializes in a new luxury level of queer weddings.
She grew up watching her mother host lavish dinner parties for military officials and dignitaries and over the years she realized she'd learned an important skill - hospitality. It became the backbone of everything she would do afterwards. With a background in English & Creative Writing from Colorado State University, her working career would take her through fine dining, venues, hotels, resorts, catering, and to realize her passion for designing exceptional weddings and being super organized while doing it.
Aimee brought Prisma Events from a fledgling dream to a fully realized career, earning an industry certification, growing to a team of six planners, receiving local and national awards, multiple TV and online interviews, and serving on the board of the most established catering and events organization in the country. Being a wedding planner satisfies her need for organization, passion for designing, desire to be creative, and to allow her clients to dream big - and maybe push the envelope a bit.
Why gay weddings?
In 2013 while helping her best friends plan their wedding, she was moved to change the narrative of the wedding industry. She vowed that not one more couple she worked with would have to ask a vendor if their staff would "be ok serving a gay wedding". She set out to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ couples to have their dream weddings without compromise, embrace the endless creativity of the queer community, and provide education to the event industry on inclusivity and gender-neutralizing outdated traditions. She has spent the years since then advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, speaking on industry panels, consulting venues and suppliers on updating to inclusive verbiage & signage, and being at the forefront of the Colorado gay wedding market as a top-tier ally and supporter. Aimee has been a regular guest on the Debt Free Guys "Queer Money" podcast (and their wedding planner!), acted as main show planner for two Dragutante shows (featured on Discovery+), planned the first annual Pride Prom for the University of Denver, is an inaugural member of Men's Vows, and has many more affiliations and accolades to her support for the queer community.
From Aimee I believe that all love is love worth celebrating. We make sure that every couple feels seen, validated, and beautiful on their wedding day. In my world, there is no difference between a "gay wedding" and a "straight wedding". A wedding is a very fun party with some important stuff at the beginning and no one should be denied that. I've been supported by the most incredible queer friends and family members throughout my life and this is how I give back. I am taking the position I've been given in the world, the creative talents I have, and my passion for people and hope to spread joy, awareness, and love through every event and interaction I have. I truly want you to have exactly what you want for your wedding, with the people you want to celebrate with, and years of blissful happiness afterward.
What you'll get to experience is a bubbly mom of 2 (who will remind you to drink water), a little sarcasm (ok, sometimes a lot), and bouts of very loud laughing (I can't really help it but some think it's one of my best qualities). I'll offer you a drink when we meet, probably reference my husband at least once, and make sure you know how truly excited I am that you're getting married and I get to be a part of it. I absolutely love that this is my job even though it never feels like "work" and I'd be nothing without the stellar teams of event professionals that I lovingly call my "friendors". If you are looking for an honest approach to wedding planning with a side of "we're definitely going to be friends when this is over", then I'm your girl, this is your safe space, and let's get this party started! The Cliffs Notes: wife * mommy * karaoke star * Colorado girl * craft beer lover * always has wine in the house * marshmallow roasting aficionado * addicted to Ru Paul's Drag Race, Schitt's Creek, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt * loves to laugh (see previous note) * super passionate about weddings * dedicated to having a good time * rollergirl * drag brunch regular * creates pretty things * can't tongue pop * thinks she's the lucky one
