Ahhh, summertime in the Rockies. There's not much like it! Rolling green mountains, pines and aspen trees swaying in the wind, rushing waterfalls, hikers and mountain bikers, and....skiers?! In June?? June 29th, to be exact. We always say, "If you don't like the weather in Colorado, wait 20 minutes". Well, when Kendall + Dusty picked their end of June summertime wedding at the top of Arapahoe Basin, snow was the last thing we thought we'd have to deal with. Boy, were we wrong! Mother Nature had a different idea for the week of their mountaintop wedding and the snow poured down. We were in constant communication with our couple and the venue and the risk of postponement was on the horizon. Thankfully, the storm came and went and left behind a few feet of fresh powder - which now posed a new challenge - the mountain would be open for skiing on their wedding day.

In normal summer weather, the mountain would be closed for skiing and we would have the lodge staff drive up our vendor teams and decor on Snow Cats (super duty snow mobiles) while guests enjoyed a leisurely ride on an empty chair lift to the top.  With an active ski run that day, the plans had to change. What was a new set of challenges to get everything we needed to the top of the mountain (trust me, "summer road" is a very loose term being thrown around for our commute to the top!), turned into an epic day to remember and an opportunity for our newlyweds that very few will ever experience.

Kendall and Dusty's mountain rustic-chic wedding was one for a skier's fairy tale. Personal touches included hand-carved aspen tree place card and table number holders - the table numbers were vintage mountain post cards - a cool cowhide adorned the ceremony space, surrounded by aspen trunks and overflowing flower arrangements, and soft tan leather straps hung tiny bouquets from the rows of chairs. Hints of antlers made their way into the decor - befitting a groom with the last name Buck. After the couple said their "I do's", the two slipped off their dress shoes and buckled into their ski boots for the most memorable recessional we've ever seen. They took their time as they skied hand-in-hand down the now closed ski run. They must have felt like the only two people in the world for those moments. Kendall said, "It gave us an opportunity to reflect on our new marriage and take in this incredible high we were feeling. It was really special to have this time for just the two of us".

With a kiss at the bottom and another ride back up the chair lift, the party was on. They celebrated the rest of the evening surrounded by friends, family, and loved ones who had traveled to the top of the world to see them wed. They danced all night with the band, shared cake and cocktails, and tried to take it all in. Kendall and Dusty certainly rolled with the punches in the days leading up to their wedding and their patience paid off. It just goes to show that sometimes our plans can change and sometimes they change for the better.

You fall in love. You get engaged. You start wedding planning! Everything in the world is butterflies and rainbows. And then one day it isn't. It's hard to say if anything could have really prepared us for what the world has been going through since 2020 turned upside-down. Events cancelled. Plans changed. Dreams postponed. But through the chaos and uncertainty, even today, one things remains true - you can't cancel love. Meredith and Van are just one couple, of many out there, who took a step back to remind themselves of what truly matters most - their love and connection to each  other. And they took that black cloud and made their own rainbow.

Back in February, plans for Meredith and Van's wedding on May 16, 2020 in Vail were well underway. By March 24, we were having a very different conversation - postpone or cancel? The country had been shut down due to COVID19 and large gatherings and events were the first thing to go. It wasn't looking good for their destination wedding in Colorado and the pressure was mounting. They weighed their options, surveyed their loved ones, and decided to do what was best for them and reschedule their celebration for September. We all remained optimistic this was going to be a short-lived inconvenience and be well controlled and over by June. But as it became clear that this was much more serious than we all anticipated, and the naivety of our hope began to ween, we knew we were all on borrowed time.

On March 28, Meredith and Van exchanged their vows in the living room of their Pastor's home outside Austin, Texas. In attendance with the couple and their officiant were Meredith's parents, their photographer, and over 100 friends and family tuned in over a virtual Zoom call. It wasn't at all what they had planned for but it turned out to be an incredibly perfect day for them. Meredith gave us the whole story around the whirlwind decision - "We called him three nights before the wedding and he was totally on board with our plan. He's a 7 on the Enneagram (enthusiastic, impulsive, and open-minded) and was thrilled to use his home for our intimate ceremony." They got to work on the logistics and made a plan to move forward. The bride bought her flowers at Whole Foods and her mom helped create a bouquet and a boutonniere for the groom. With a strong internet connection, love powered through.

When asked what their favorite moment of the day was, she replied, "Van's parents are states away and were unable to get to Texas for our ceremony due to all the travel restrictions. That was hands down the hardest thing for us to process in making our decision to go ahead and get married. They were in full support of us saying 'I do', so we set up a Zoom meeting to make it possible for them to virtually join us. When our pastor asked Van's parents for their blessing, they unmuted and his dad immediately said, 'How you doing?!', on the video call in front of all of our virtual guests. We died laughing because that is 100% him. Though they couldn't physically make it when we sealed the deal, they made an unforgettable memory on our big day!"

After their marriage was pronounced, they shared a dance in the living room with just their parents watching. They cut their Whole Foods cake and shared a slice. They raised a glass of champagne and toasted to their future. And as they drove through the nearest Chick-Fil-A to have their first meal together as newlyweds, the staff cheered through the window. "It was unexpectedly perfect and we'd do it again in a heartbeat!", exclaimed Meredith.

As for advice for other couples trying to navigate these trying times, "Just get married and celebrate with all of your people later! It may not be the day you planned or dreamed of, but it is incredibly special to enter into your covenant in the midst of fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. Your 'forever union' is the glimmer of hope our world needs in a time of deep darkness! And not to mention, you get to have an incredible story to tell of the time you got married in a pandemic." We share those sentiments exactly. And we're happy to say that this story doesn't end here because we are still planing an amazing day for Meredith and Van and their closest friends and family this September in Vail. (Fingers crossed and prayers lifted!)

We can't plan for everything (although we sure do try!). But what we can believe in will help us through any situation. I can say all the things we've been hearing since the beginning - unprecedented times, find a way to pivot, uncertainty of the future, things will never be the same - and all those are true and necessary to understand and acknowledge. When you can find that pivot, that transformation even, to change your priorities, take a step back, see the bigger picture - your mind and your heart make a shift in a better direction. Don't let these "unprecedented times" drag you down with it. Lift your head, ask how you can help, and dig deep to find that real love. That deep love. You'll thank yourself on the other side. And remember, it isn't just about a fancy party. Although a fancy party is always nice (wink wink). Stay true to the love that brought you to these moments and it will be love that brings you through it.

It was a simple love story, really. Boy meets girl. Boy and girl fall in love. Boy and girl get married. But just exactly how did boy meet girl? Did they cover that in the fairy tale? Well, in this fairy tale (turned real life love story), it was all because of Mom. That's right. Mom meets girl. Mom gets girl's phone number. Mom tells boy about girl....and well, now it's time for the rest of the story.

Matt and Amy may have been destined for the long haul. The cars aligned...I mean, the stars, and it all fell into place from "GO!". Matt was an aspiring race car driver and Amy just happened to work for an exotic car experience track. When Matt's mom met this beauty, she used that "mother's intuition" and asked Amy's permission to give her number to her son. And against his Millennial tendencies, he actually called that very night. The story begins.

The fairy tale continued to unfold over the next four years with sharing an apartment (an easy move after two years), trips across the US to Mexico to Costa Rica, and finally back where it all (technically) started - at the race track. Matt put all the pieces in order and proposed to Amy beside a hot green sports car with family and friends to witness. And they were off! Wedding plans soon started and although a car theme would have fit, it was time for them to start writing their own next chapter.

We all know, and love, the classic love stories. Romeo and Juliet. Great Expectations. Pride and Prejudice. And the most classic of all for these 90's kids - The Princess Bride. Amy and Matt expanded an affinity for poised literature and timeless love stories and picked the most perfect setting available to exchange their own vows - Dunafon Castle. They drifted through the day on a cloud, writing the pages as they went, and this is the evidence of a true love story - surrounded by the inspired pages of the lovers that came before them - complete with dancing in the rain. And while they did an impeccable job carrying the classic love story theme all the way through (be sure to pause over the vintage roll-top desk with handwritten library card escort cards for the guests), don't fret. They plan to tour the world visiting as many F1 racing tracks as possible to make sure their love is never idle.

The traditions of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, are rooted deep in Mexican culture. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pray for and remember those who have passed and help support their spiritual journey. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. So within this tradition, Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness, but as a day of celebration, because their loved ones awake and celebrate with them. While this holiday may not seem an obvious first choice for a wedding theme, it's easy to connect it once you know where it came from, embrace the bright colors and music, and remember that it all comes from love.

When Emilio and Aaron approached us with the idea to design a Day of the Dead themed wedding for them, we jumped at the opportunity! We love blush and green but come on, this was a challenge! We wanted to bring out Emilio's favorite parts of his heritage while maintaining a well put-together and romantic wedding feel. They completely trusted us to bring the vision to life by selecting the perfect vendor team, hand selecting design and decor elements, and.... just wait until you see the cake.  All this while Emilio and Aaron themselves were navigating a long-distance relationship and traveling between Chicago and Orlando to see each other.

They were thrilled with the special touches and personalization we brought to the event and the guests danced into the night, thoroughly enjoying the ambiance. We learned that tradition is a great place to find inspiration, long-distance relationships can last, and there's always a way to make it "classy".

We all know the famous quote, "The mountains are calling and I must go", by John Muir. And if you are so inclined, you can learn more about what he was describing in a letter to his sister through this intriguing essay. Even if Katie and Dylan have never read the full letter by Muir, they embodied his spirit for nature through their simplistic, yet stunning, elopement deep in the Colorado hills - ok, mountains. Either way, their love is a traditional story that writes it's own ending and we were thrilled to be witness to it.

Katie and Dylan were high school sweethearts who met...wait for it...at a high school football game. Right?! It doesn't get much more "all American love story" than that. But after nine years together, they knew it was a forever love story and not just a high school flame waiting to burn out. As avid hikers, they traveled the country discovering the world around them together. And even though neither had ever been to Colorado, they knew the magic in these mountains were where they wanted to solidify their love story.

You would think that with such a traditional beginning that the natural next step would be a 150 person country club wedding in their home state of Virginia. But, no. Not these two. They had a vision and it was much different than that. Surrounded by just thirteen of their favorite humans and their beloved dog, they exchanged vows in a "circle of love" nestled in a clearing in the forest. They exchanged their first kiss just as the sun set behind the mountains. They exchanged swings at a wedding cake shaped-pinata hung high in a pine tree and spilled candy on the forest floor. They exchanged forks full of cake, more kisses, and dances on the deck of their VRBO venue underneath strings of light. And they exchanged glances of fulfillment as their loved ones raised glasses to their successful future together.

We learned from this wedding. We learned that a little can go a long way. We learned that you don't have to follow anyone's rules. We learned that it's only as stressful as you make it. Here is a couple who had never set foot in the place they were going to get married. They went with the flow, they trusted the expertise of the professionals they hired, and they did everything just the way they wanted. It was one of our favorite weddings to date. It wasn't without it's own challenges, but hey, "the best view comes after the hardest climb". And man, what a view.

When a couple envisions a Colorado wedding, certain things come to  mind - pine trees, beautiful scenery, snow-capped mountains, haunted hotels....wait, what? The historic Stanley Hotel, proudly sitting atop a hill in quiet Estes Park, Colorado, has a few stories to tell. This one is of two grooms from Florida with wedding guests traveling from both coasts, and the perfect backdrop to get married. We didn't see any ghosts, but we certainly got the chills.

Robert + Julian had already made names for themselves in the social media world as Instagram influencers and media moguls before this stunning Estes Park wedding came to fruition. With celebrity guests in attendance and even in the wedding party, the bar was raised to prove to these New Yorkers,  Floridians, and Los Angeles natives that rustic glam is where it's at.

The couple spent months collecting antique candle holders, customizing hand-lettered agate place cards, even curating their own goldleaf-embossed menu cards. They wanted the personal touches to come through from the moment their guests arrived in Colorado until the very last glass of champagne was sipped.

The wedding weekend festivities began with a welcome reception at the hotel, followed by morning yoga to get stretched and ready for the family vs. family softball game! To continue to allow their guests to enjoy their time in Colorado, they hosted a rehearsal dinner at Elkins Whisky Distillery catered by local favorite, Smokin' Dave's BBQ. And of course, no trip to the Stanley Hotel can be complete without a private late-night ghost tour.

It was cold for an October wedding in Colorado (believe it or not), but that didn't stop this stunning group from taking photos among the wild elk and perfectly complementing the fall grounds in their rich burgundies and creams. The intimate wedding ceremony warmed guests in the Stanley Pavilion amphitheater accompanied by a string quartet.  After cocktail hour, guests dined upstairs at thoughtfully decorated farm tables. And oh, the candlelight. The custom marbled cake served as a centerpiece for the room as Robert and Julian laughed through loving toasts and cheers.

But before the party could really get underway, these two wanted to give one last personal touch to their guests - a surprise Drag Queen Review! Local Denver Drag Queen favorites Jessica L'Whor, Evelyn Evermoore, Willow Pill, Yvie Oddly (who was just crowned the winner of season 11 of Ru Paul's Drag Race!!), and even flew in Miami Queen Noel Leon! Unassuming guests were in for quite the treat with comedy and dance-filled entertainment that didn't hold back and was certainly memorable.

Modern yet classic, sophisticated yet rustic, designer yet relaxed. Robert and Julian successfully combined their styles while celebrating their individuality throughout this naturally elegant wedding (including coordinating outfit changes!). We were thrilled when their wedding story was featured on Junebug Weddings to highlight their authentic approach to collaborating a high-style DIY wedding with modern elements. We can't wait to see what these two give to the world next!

As we can attest, being an entrepreneur is tough. It takes dedication and sacrifice - which many times leaves an owner "married" to their work. Luckily, there are things like business networking events that can align these hard-working spirits with like-minded people and create a new love. Such was the fairy tale that started Audrey and Rich on their road to a whimsical evening of love at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms; complete with whispering grasses, twinkling lights, and well...fairies.

They wanted "low-key and fun" and it was delivered. The personal touches, like the white stones along the ceremony aisle handwritten with words, in English and Spanish, reminding of the cornerstones of a strong relationship, set the tone for this family-centered celebration. The Bride and her family hand crafted centerpieces for each guest table - large white lanterns with live succulents and moss, butterflies, and the tiniest lights - the perfect little fairy house. With soft periwinkle and lilac hues, guests enjoyed dinner under the tent at Green Farm Barn with a stunning view of the sunset behind the foothills.

The party was full of love and excitement under the lights on the patio and the DJ kept the dance floor full til the end. The couple were whisked away in her father's vintage Rolls Royce at the end of their perfect party.

Our friend Brad over at Brides, Bumps, and Babies Photography invited us over to the Trulife Studios space to learn more about owner Aimee Palifroni and how we got all up in this crazy gig! (Sorry - we've been watching a lot of Alyssa's Secret recently! lol!) Hear the story of how Prisma Events came to be, why we love it, and where we are headed!

You can believe in coincidence, you can believe in serendipity, you can believe in "meant to be". Or not. But sometimes you hear a story and it makes you believe. Like when two people are dating other people but their stars align and....they just know. So what better place to start the next chapter of life together than under the stars? This is John + David's story celebrated among the stars.

A special part of a wedding is joining together all the people you both love. Sometimes that's family, sometimes that's friends, and sometimes it's the family you choose. John and David knew they wanted an intimate celebration to honor those that have stood by them and their relationship for the twelve years leading up to this day. They invited their closest friends to spend an adventure-filled weekend in one of their favorite areas of Colorado - Buena Vista. A little search on VRBO and they knew that Bright Star Ranch had everything they needed (but just to be safe, we brought in extra bathrooms ;) ).

The goal was a weekend getaway with a great group, lots to do, and a nice party in the middle. A welcome reception was held at Deerhammer Distillery Company, morning yoga on the hill led by the wedding Officiant, and day trips into Salida. The ceremony was short and sweet in a "circle of love" with family-style dinner under the tent, and dancing, you guessed it, under the stars. Those brave enough ended the weekend with river rafting the next morning. Tears of joy, lots of Rose, and laughter into the night were the perfect combination to show these two just how loved and supported they really are.

Isn't is amazing what this digital age has brought us? French fries delivered right to your door. Packages arriving within the hour. Finding the love of your life with a swipe. While we continue to find easier ways to acquire things, one thing remains constant - if it's love at first sight, you fly with it.

Brandon and Sara met as a lot of today's college students might meet - on Tinder. In fact, it only took Sara being on the app for six hours to get stopped by Brandon's handsome grin. After a whirlwind first week getting to know each other, Brandon was preparing to commission to the Air Force and be whisked away as quickly as he appeared. They committed to making it work long distance and the determination they both bring to their passions was brought to their new relationships. And it worked.

After a carefully orchestrated surprise proposal (it took planes, trains, and automobiles to bring it together!), the nursing student and future fighter pilot planned a short engagement and began planning their destination wedding to Colorado. Crooked Willow Farms set the stage for a beautiful garden party ceremony and cocktail hour followed by dinner and dancing in the barn. Thoughtful hand-made touches by Brandon's mom brought all the elements together. Aviators in hand, this bridal party knew they wanted to make lasting memories for the couple before being shipped to Japan - and boy, did they ever.

People come and go in our lives. My mother always said, "people come into our lives for a reason or a season". This came true two-fold for Amanda and Nathan's beautiful wedding at Devil's Thumb Ranch. Firstly, Amanda is not only a corporate event planner, but we went to high school together! It was an absolute honor to help this sweet girl plan her perfect day (and no pressure to please another planner!). While there may have been some shock at this quick engagement - Amanda and Nathan  met in February 2017 at a housewarming party and were engaged by October the same year! - it was easy to understand when you see the stars between these two. And we really mean stars as Nathan is one of 70 local members of the 501st Legion (that means he's a bonafide Stormtrooper to us Earthlings)!

Spring mountain weddings in Colorado can sometimes be tricky. Luckily, we avoided the snow the week before and were blessed with beautifully green rolling hills. However, the wind blew us in different directions of our plans. Everyone went with the flow (you liking all these windy puns yet?) and they persevered with the ceremony nestled in the valley. When the clouds rolled through, we were left with the perfect evening to celebrate, take photos in the trees, and gaze at the stars. Nathan may have been a Stormtrooper out of costume, but he sure took his bride on a trip through the galaxy.

Once in a while, we get to get out of our "wedding box" and do something cool. Something that we just dream up and bring to life. This year, we were able to participate in the ILEA (International Live Events Association) Denver chapter's annual Designer Showcase. This event is a can't miss for local professionals as teams get together to design and execute a large vignette based on a theme. I've attended this event in the past and always had a little twinge of jealousy walking through these amazing spaces where imagination can run free. When I was invited to join #TeamMagnolia as the lead planner and designer on this project, I couldn't say no! It takes a lot of hands to put something like this together (just wait til you see the list of vendors!). Although we didn't win an award for our vignette this year, I am SO proud of what we put together, the creativity we brought, and watching guests get giddy with their hands in the dirt. Gillian and Brian are the kind of couple you meet and just know they are going to make it for the long haul. They met through their youth group and spent a few years trying to convince themselves that there was someone else better for them - they were wrong. Luckily those failed dating attempts led them to realize they needed to take the next step and actually go on a date - with each other.

Avid hikers, they watched the sunrise many times over different Colorado peaks. When Brian was ready to make this beauty his wife, he strategically planned a sunrise hike with a storybook ending. Watching the glow come around the Earth, he waited on his knee with a ring. What a perfect way to start your day! On the trek back down, some random hikers passed them on the trail and offered Gillian a balloon. All aglow from the proposal, it was a giddy surprise! As another group passed and handed her another balloon, and another, and another, she still hadn't quite figured it out. When they reached the bottom, both their families were waiting to celebrate - with matching balloons they had been sending up the mountain with willing participating strangers. There's even an amazing video to prove it.

Their winter wonderland celebration came in December was a masterpiece of planning, coordination, decor, and partying. With a complete transformation of Highlands Ranch Mansion into a sparkling white dream, the team from Firefly Events designed a true winter aesthetic. Funkiphino kept the dance floor full all night and it truly was an epic party.

Love will always find a way. Love will always conquer. Love will set you free.

The above is always true but getting there is the hard part. For young gay professionals in a big city, it's always a journey as well. As many couples before them, Robert and Joey shared in their defeats and triumphs through their relationship. And in the end, it was love that won in a spectacular way.

Surrounded by the true beauty of nature in the South African Garden nestled in the back of the Denver Botanic Gardens at York St, this was a celebration of love, life, and progress. There was truly not a dry eye in the house during the ceremony, speeches, and all the way through the end of the night hugs. I think at one point, Robert told me he'd been crying the whole day! Happy tears, my friend.

A personalized ceremony was followed by inviting the guests to enjoy the gardens and then return for cocktail hour. The same space was used for a delicious meal from Footer's Catering while guests were seated at tables named for exotic places the couple have traveled together. As the sun set, the party moved into Gates Hall for a family-filled dance party, photobooth, and cocktails. Check our Instagram page to catch a glimpse of the light-up maracas for the grand exit!

*Shortly after this joyous occasion, we were saddened to learn that our  photographer, John Poplin, passed away. When a marketing gal and an ER doctor fall in love, you get to witness the immaculate combination of vision, organization, and precision cake cutting skills. Nicole and Jeremy planned their Colorado destination wedding from California all while planning a big move - to Colorado, in fact! Jeremy was planning to take residency in Fort Collins while Nicole worked tirelessly to build their future life.

What better way to start a new chapter in a new state than to christen it with your wedding?! With a large guest list of travelers, the Vail Wedding Deck was the perfect backdrop for this adventurous couple. We watched the storm move in, waited for the rain to pass, and then all stared in awe at the hypnotizing Colorado skies. Even after the bridal party were temporarily stranded at the top of Vail Mountain (FYI,  you can't operate a chair lift when there's lightning in the area!), you couldn't wipe the smiles of  these faces.

The incredible speeches given by the bride and groom's families and closest friends was a true testament to these genuine and caring people. Planning a destination wedding is never an easy task but these two did it with grace. It was beautiful, classy, and an all-night party!

In this day and age, it's hard to imagine that two young people growing up in the same town wouldn't find love until years and years had already passed. Kaitlin and Kyle met in 5th grade in their Texas town. But it wasn't until a trip home from their respective universities - Alabama and A&M - that the blonde beauty and the baseball player decided to finally take a swing at love...and hit a home run.

With an affinity for breakfast tacos, documentaries, being outside, and their puppy Rocky, the two finally found themselves ready to solidify themselves as an all-star team. Colorado called them to a destination wedding at the elegant Highlands Ranch Mansion and their vision did not disappoint. Beautiful blush, creams, and greens with a hint of Texas rustic-chic set the tone for this lovely fete. A full bridal party of 11 bridesmaids and 11 groomsmen showed how much love and support Kaitlin and Kyle have right from "I do" to forever.

As is summertime in the Rockies, you never know what weather will roll off the mountains. The morning was crisp and clear and then came the rain. Our beautiful bride stood in the window and watched as we reassured her it would all work out - and it did. We waited for the storm to roll over, wiped the chairs, and carried on just as the clouds parted. The sun shone down on the cross the groom made for the altar and lit the path for their happily ever after. From there it was tears of joy, clinking glasses, and a full dance floor well into the night - complete with party wigs brought in by the Father-of-the-Bride to keep the laughs rolling.

One of our favorite things about planning weddings is that once you have all the base pieces together - who, what, where, how - it's seeing each couple's personalities come through that make each one unique. Alyssa and Cody were no exception. A two year engagement, amazing world travels, puppies, and an affinity for nice coffee, this couple wanted to do things their way.

A mountain location was a must. Surrounded by beauty, trees, and the hills that they love to hike and camp together, Peaceful Valley Ranch was the perfect culmination of destination, rustic, laid back, and family oriented that they were looking for. And that view? Unbelievable.

The Executive Chef (and owner) at Peaceful Valley Ranch worked with them to create a completely vegetarian meal to honor the couple's lifestyle and treat their guests to something of a surprise with the delicious options. Hey, when it's your wedding, give them what you like! The charm of the 40 year old handmade wooden chairs with heart cut-outs, the rumbling of the creek rolling past the ballroom, and the roar of the firepit late into the night - it was a perfect celebration in perfect Colorado style.

“A mountain backdrop, to dance the Hora, and serve our homemade beer”. Those were the top three things this down-to-earth and fun-loving couple wanted for their destination wedding. Jacquelyn, a Colorado native, and Eric, an Illinois man, were both in graduate school at the University of Kentucky when they chose Evergreen Lake House to be the perfect spot for their celebration. The personal touches, respect for tradition, and laid-back approach set the stage for an awesome night.

Jacquelyn and Eric wanted to share with everyone why they chose Colorado for their wedding and carried that theme all the way through. The couple started off the weekend by treating all their traveling guests to a real Colorado evening with the rehearsal dinner at Green Mountain Beer Company and food trucks to keep everyone well fed and entertained.

Playing off the gorgeous natural views of the lake house, the florals and décor were kept simple with whimsical foliage and white lanterns and candles while the ladies donned rich green dresses.  The ceremony couldn’t have been more picturesque as the couple were married by their best friend under a Chuppah the bride’s father made. Guests found their seats for the reception by picking up a custom pint glass with their name inside and enjoyed a homemade “Wedding Brew” crafted by the groom and driven to Colorado from Kentucky! Instead of traditional wedding cake, the couple cut into a delicious pie from Relish Catering complete with “pie birds” baked inside. The mini pies for the guests were an extra sweet treat.

The highlight of the night was watching the bride and groom lifted into the air for the Jewish dance celebration of the Hora. It was a full dance floor all night and the party was fueled by love and laughter.

It was cold. It was a challenge. It was breathtaking.

When I overheard my yoga instructor expressing woes over her upcoming wedding, I took the chance to offer a helping hand. I am so glad that I did because it ended up being one of the most beautiful weddings we've been a part of to date. And a friendship has blossomed as well! Welcome to a magical Colorado mountaintop winter wedding.

Nicole and Aaron are transplants from Orlando and knew they wanted to share the beauty of Colorado with their friends and family with a destination mountain wedding. Now, if you've been in Colorado a minute, you know two things: 1. the weather can change at any moment, and 2. March and April are our snowiest months. It had been a fairly mild winter until....well, here comes the change! A massive blizzard rolled through two days before the wedding was scheduled at the top of Arapahoe Basin. Endless numbers of flights canceled - no one coming in or out from Denver. My bride calls me in a panic. We went through our options and decided that the show would go on as planned, with as many guests as were able to get there. Although there were friends and family that couldn't make it, this intimate affair was overflowing with love and gratitude. And it is all captured here by the incredible Cat Lemus. So cuddle up and enjoy the transport to another world. A world of white.

Two things happen when you are asked to plan a wedding for someone you know. First, you are really excited (and honored!) that friends ask for your help and trust you with their special day. Second, the nerves set in because you want everything to be perfect and there's a lot more pressure! Luckily, when this awesome couple asked for my help, I knew it was going to be smooth sailing.

Ross and Carlos are two super fun-loving guys who make a planner feel so special to be a part of their day. From the beginning of planning, their first concerns were making sure that their family and friends had a great time. It was never about "It's our day....I have to have this....my wedding...." It was all about, "We want them to have fun....great food....open bar....a party!". It was a day filled with love and laughter and it was awesome.

The ceremony was held a Alamo Placita Park in Denver for just the immediate family. A little downtime at their new home and then a quick limo ride down the street to the newly renovated Applewood Golf Course in Golden for the reception. Complete with a customized step-and-repeat for guests to have their photo taken paparazzi style, it was upscale yet casual, traditional but their own, and just the day they asked for. Congratulations Ross and Carlos and we wish you years of happiness - and we know you'll have no problem with that.

I think every planner dreams of being able to do destination weddings at some point. Oh the excitement! The travel! The change of scenery! The challenge! I just so happened to get that chance and I am so glad that I did.

Amber and Jared live in Austin, Texas. Amber a born native, Jared a transplant. All it took was a chance meeting at an outdoor country music festival (where else but in Austin?) for these two to fall in love under the "big and bright" stars of Texas. (Insert clapping a la Pee Wee Herman.)

When I was asked to assist with planning for a wedding being held in Connecticut with the Bride and Groom in Texas and me in Colorado, a lot rushed through my mind. "Will I be able to pull it off? I don't have my trusted vendors with me! What if I forget something? What if I miss my FLIGHT?!" Luckily, Old Lyme, CT is very welcoming and the Father of the Groom's private estate has seen a few weddings on the lawn before. I may have been prepared with my Wedding Planner Emergency Kit but what I wasn't prepared for was just exactly how gorgeous it was going to be.

So travel with me as we take a country couple to the beach for a casual yet elegant affair, rich with family love, tradition, and a good ol' fashioned party.

In March 2013, Colorado passed legislation establishing Civil Unions that provide rights comparable to those provided to opposite-sex married couples. The law went into effect on May 1, 2013 - just four days after Christopher and Jonathan exchanged vows of love and devotion in front of their family and friends. It may not have been "legal" on that day but that didn't change one minute, emotion, or the realness that we all experienced.

Years together living as a couple in public and private, a move across the country from Florida to Colorado, and a profession of their own truth brought us all to experience a magical day. It's hard to imagine that perhaps there are people out there who don't approve of a couple in love being together - and even harder to imagine those people might be your family. There were tests of love, moral, and faith this day. And as with most matters of the heart, love prevailed. And there wasn't a dry eye in the room.

This was one of the most memorable events that I have been a part of, for several reasons, but mostly because it was such a GREAT party. Once the tears were shed, the immense love was abound, and that line in the sand was erased.....well, it was a cause for celebration. Families brought together by love, friends letting loose, and a couple who couldn't wait anymore for this day. They did go to the courthouse those four days later to be awarded their legal Civil Union - and then again on October 7, 2014 when same-sex marriage was made legal and solidified them even more. It was more than just a beautiful wedding, it was history.
